Just Ideas: Possible Power Rangers Theme Park Attractions?

Here is my own renditions and ideas. This by no means for sure will happen or are official. Nor have I heard any rumors or truth about any real ideas. Feel free to add comments on your ideas. I have a poll going on right now and when the results come out, I will either reiterate these ideas or link to this post. These are also the options from the poll.

Rollercoaster

Got the idea from the Hulk rollercoaster. I'm not a big fan of rollercoasters, but I can imagine that the cars can be in different colors as the rangers and be like a rainbow coaster. And maybe have a select villain.

Enclosed 'Dark' Ride

A ride like the ones at Disney (Small World, Peter Pan, Snow White, Winnie the Pooh, etc.) or the Spider-man ride at Universal Islands of Adventure. The ride can be 3-D like Spider-man or be like the ones I mentioned before with animatronics that barely move. They can tell a story. It could be of any select Power Ranger team, I vote for Mighty Morphin. since it is the best known. Most rides go from room to room, the first room could have Rita escaping the dumpster, second have Zordon telling Alpha to get five teenagers and we see the morphed Rangers appear, the third can have the Rangers fighting a monster or Goldar and fourth Megazord battle and fifth could have Zedd and Green Ranger and so on.

Indoor Stageshow

The Stage show Saban had in 1995 could be replicated or made better inside a housing stadium like Disney has for their stage shows, which are virtually all gone but the ones I grew up with where Beauty and the Beast and the Little Mermaid in MGM Studios. I like air conditioning. And having it indoors, it can have special effects or 3-D. And this show can have different Rangers from different teams and being in-suit, they can have different voice actors. They can take the plot of Super Legends where Zedd returned.

(RPM in Philippines)

Outdoor Stageshow

Disney Hollywood Studios only had the Rangers in a parade and meet and greet, but back when it was MGM Studios, there was Ninja Turtles and they had a outdoor stageshow and then they did a meet and greet. As we said before, Sentai has plenty of stageshows and most of them are outdoors and they do pyrotechnics. Outdoors could also have a slight arena roof.

(Mystic Force and Dino Thunder in a foreign market)

In a Parade

The only thing Disney had them do was participate in the Car parade in Hollywood Studios. I have covered this many times before as they had one member from a different team and would rotate members, having a member of a new team replace one from four years before, for example Mystic Pink replaced Pink Time Force Ranger.

Meet and Greet

After the parade and at different times in Disney World Hollywood Studios in Orlando, the suited Power Rangers would sign autographs. To start out again, Saban will probably have all 5 Samurai Rangers and then slowly add a new member from a new team replacing another. I do wish they would have like Samurai Red, MMPR Pink, RPM Black, Jungle Fury Yellow and Operation Overdrive Blue.

Martial Art Demo

What I was thinking of was in-suit but an outdoor thingy where they train kids with simple marital art things and have an actual Martial Arts person be the host and explain.

Game-like Ride

In Disney World Magic Kingdom there is this Buzz Lightyear ride where you go in cars and have to zap targets. So maybe each looks like a zord and you have targets from different series, like one room has putties and Lord Zedd is in command at a park or cave and another has Cylcobots and Ransik is the boss inside a cityscape and another has Grinders and Venjix (a giant tube) in his headquarters, etc.

Museum of History

Ah, I want this so much. I imagine a big space with several rooms, it doesn't have to be as big as an actual musuem but it would be awesome to see suits in cases. They wouldn't have to have all the suits of each rangers but at least a few from each team. Or maybe all the helmets. I mean, there are some fans that have one helmet from each team. Not only suits and helmets of the team but like with Sentai that has Megazords, villains, and vehicles.

Disney vs. Saban: Production, Merchandising and Promotion

I didn't like the 'versus' part but I wrote it to attract attention, yes, I'm not above it. I am comparing how both companies that have run the Power Rangers franchise. As we all know, Disney bought Fox Kids and other stuff from Saban, including Power Rangers in 2002. Disney moved production to New Zealand and produced Ninja Storm to RPM. In 2010, MMPR was re-aired with special effects as a 'reversion' and Saban rebought Power Rangers from Disney. I'm comparing Saban brands/Samurai stuff with Disney Era, very little of early Saban.

DISNEY PRODUCTION
Civilian Powers
Disney had a ongoing thread in most of their seasons where when the Rangers were not morphed, had individual super powers. Fans did not like this and some believed this was redundant as many had martial arts skills and going against the lore of the Power Rangers. I didn't mind it at times. Ninja Storm, Mystic Force and Jungle Fury already had powers in their original Sentai related to elements or animals, so there wasn't much difference in PR. As for RPM, they had individual powers but only when they were morphed, so doesn't count. The seasons that added civilian powers were Dino Thunder, SPD, and Operation Overdrive.

First Female Red Ranger
Power Rangers claimed the first female red warrior in 2005 while Super Sentai did it in 2009 with Shinkenger. While neither had completely original outfits, Charlie the A-Squad SPD Red Ranger had a semi-original uniform made from motocross gear.

Explosions
Incorrectly called "Kalishpolisions' as if Executive Producer Bruce Kalish but stunt coordinator Koichi Sakamoto is responsible for the excessive explosions in most of the Disney Era seasons.

Props from Japan
One of the negatives of filming in the United States was it was hard to ship every prop from Japan, probably because of money, maybe because of time. All I know is that props were more easier to ship from Japan to New Zealand. About 5554 miles apart. In MMPR, they never used the foam Dragon Shield, always the floppy cloth one. But in PRDT, they clearly used the original foam shield, probably shipped from Toei directly and not old MMPR reserves.

Toei shooting Sentai footage in New Zealand
May not be a big deal for Power Ranger fans, but I did like to see a comradery between Toei and Disney in that Toei had them shoot footage in New Zealand for Super Sentai. The New Zealand team used their own suits and their own stuntmen and sent the footage to Japan.

Roll Calls
Roll calls of each Ranger was pretty common in Sentai, even in Zyuranger. Remember that footage they would use when the Rangers would call their Thunderzords? Well, that was when they would say they own names. Sometimes, they would say their real name as well. This wasn't used until Space (1998) and then again SPD (2006). The last time they did this was for Jungle Fury.

Heavy Censoring
Censoring was common during early Saban era, changing gruesome plots from Sentai changing into goody plots, but Disney even changed orange fire to purple fire and real fire into CGI fire during Zord battles.

Superimposing footage
I notice that Disney did more superimposing, putting their actor over the Japanese actor.

DISNEY MERCHANDISING
Excessive Amount of toys
There is no official confirmation that Disney is responsible for the excessive amount of toys, repaints and repackaging but judging by the toyline for Samurai, that has less toys than even the 2010 MMPR wave. Compare the Time Force and Wild Force lines, and there is more toys. If you notice Ranger Central toy section (which right now is done because of the merger but will be up soon again), I made more pages of waves for the Disney seasons than for the Saban seasons. I'm sure Bandai was involved too as well, but I remember one Bandai representative saying at a recent Toy Fair that they worked closely with Saban to make sure the toys match what is on the show for Samurai.

Merchandise
I feel like more merchandise was around with Disney, compared to 1997-2001. There was a lot of merchandising and promotion during the Power Rangers hayday, I think Disney got close to it but not as much. There was adult T-shirts, Disney Store toiletries, and other merchandise that wasn't around during MMPR. But for RPM, there was very little merchandise and almost no promotion.

Disney Store Exclusives
For me, I believe Power Rangers got more exposure in the Disney Era compared to the late Saban era where the popularity waned down from 1997 to 2001 mainly because of Disney Store. Disney Store had a lot of exclusive, in conjunction with Bandai.

DISNEY PROMOTION
Jetix on ABC Family
During Wild Force to SPD, Power Rangers aired on ABC Family and ABC, and there was repeats of old episodes and marathons and special contests.

Jetix on Toon Disney
From SPD to Jungle Fury, Power Rangers aired on Toon Disney. They had old episodes too and Power Rangers episodes even aired at night. In 2009, Bruce Kalish left at the end of Jungle Fury and went to Aaron Stone and Toon Disney became Disney XD. RPM aired on ABC only and at the end of the show, it said Jetix productions.

Official Website
I don't have a picture of the official Disney website, but it had special games and character descriptions that have been transferred to the Saban Powerrangers.com but there has been some bios missing. Some of the games have also been transferred.

Lack of Promotion
By RPM, it got very little promotion or merchandise. The only 'promotion' would be the toys. And any TV promos would be on ABC and mostly during RPM aired and the old shows on ABC, but they were all old shows from the Disney Channel. I'm an elementary school teacher and kids were unaware of ABC and only knew of RPM from DVDs.

SABAN PRODUCTION
Stay in New Zealand
For Samurai, Saban chose to keep shooting in New Zealand but bring in American actors to New Zealand. For MMPR to Wild Force, they shot in California and the reason shooting was moved to New Zealand was because of costs. Saban continued censoring. From Saban (Turbo or PRiS) to Disney to Saban now again, more new footage has been shot and less Sentai footage being used.

Move to HD
Power Rangers Samurai is now airing in HD. Boukenger (2006) was the first Sentai to air in HD, but the footage was cut for NTSC smaller frame for Power Rangers from PROO to RPM, taking out important stuff or making it look awkward. But now that Shinkenger footage is used for Samurai, you can see everything because the full widescreen is being used. Above is Jungle Fury and Gekiranger comparison.

SABAN MERCHANDISING
Merchandise??
Supposedly we are to get merchandise soon according to Saban Brands, so far we only have toys, video games, digital stuff and above Bandai America stickers for a ToysRUs event. But I'm sure in a couple of months, we will see merchandise and this will sound blasphemous.

Back in the day with MMPR, Saban had tons of merchandise, more than they even had with Disney. There was juice, soap, clothing (both boys and girls), ice cream, sock-em-roock-em robots, board games, video games, computer games, plush toys, walkie talkies, night lights, book bags, sleeping cots, slushie cups, water bottles, child size dolls, and much more!

SABAN PROMOTION
Official Website
They moved a lot of the Character bios from the Disney PR website, but has a lot of original stuff like games and streaming Mighty Morphin Power Rangers episodes until Power Rangers Samurai premiered in Nickelodeon.

Facebook and other social media
Something Disney didn't do was have an official Facebook page, contests, polls and Q&A. Also Hector David Jr. (Mike) is on Twitter quite often. Also there are some stuff available on iTunes and for iPhone.

Cast at events
The cast was invited to the Kids Choice Awards, they flew to Los Angeles from New Zealand and shortly went back. They didn't appear as presenters in the show nor interviewed. Q&A videos of them in a hotel the same day are available online officially. They recently were at Comic-Con International and they have done TV interviews, youtube interviews and public events like back in the day for MMPR.

Live Shows
Back in 1995, MMPR had a live show tour. There is to be something similar according to Saban Brands.

Nickelodeon
Supposedly reruns were to appear on NickToons but hasn't happen as of yet, a year after they said it would in October 2010. Nick heavily promotes Power Rangers new episodes and toy commercials, but not much now during repeats. NickToons have done Samurai marathons and stuff like that. Power Rangers briefly appears in a promo for all Nick shows.

Pros and Cons to adapting Gokaiger #2 - Financially

MY CRAZY RANTS:
In March I wrote the pros and the cons to Saban adapting Gokaiger. Now there are speculations by fans that there will be a season 2 of Samurai and either they will use Goseiger footage or create their own. Also executive producer Jonathan Tzachor has stated how he didn't consider the Disney seasons as 'canon', meaning in continuation with the new series. Jason David Frank (Tommy) had recently commented in a convention about this, judging by the comments posted by you guys, the fans, you're not so glad about his comments. But of course like others said, JDF is no longer affiliated (as of now) with Saban and is just one man. But if all of this canon business is true, it would put a damper to adapting Gokaiger. From what my sources (who have since have stopped contacting me all together in the past year) told me in the past, whoever is adapting Power Rangers (Saban or Disney) are told in advance or are aware of the newest Sentai. But maybe Tzachor doesn't know about Gokaiger.

Here again are the....
PROS
Last time I did Cons first so I decided to do the reverse.
1. PRO NUMBER ONE
Advantages to adapting the series would be that since Bandai America likes repackaging toys and re-painting toys to save money, they can release a lot of old toys (more than before) for the Gokaiger-adapted season. And if they do use 'Rangers' of past Power Rangers, they can release more toys. Linkara (History of Power Rangers) says Disney didn't understand why they were doing Forever Red because they were advertising old toys and not new ones, this series would allow Bandai to sell new toys of old, sort of like MMPR Reverison of 2010 (the toyline).

2. PRO NUMBER TWO
Selling old toys and having exposure of old seasons might boost sales of DVD and rental of streaming on Netflix.

3. PRO NUMBER THREE
If they do follow Gokaiger that has so-far brought back many Red Heroes from Sentai, a Power Ranger adaption can bring old actors, maybe not just red. Since in Gokaiger, the past teams have lost their power sand no longer can transform, Saban crew can pick any actor of past team, doesn't have to be red.

4. PRO NUMBER FOUR
In Power Rangers, we can finally see females in colors we haven't seen before like Navy, Black and more Reds and Silver and White. They are different twists to the suits of past Rangers and they some how make them more interesting.

5. PRO NUMBER FIVE
It seems that Toei has been sort of adjusting things for Power Rangers, now this is just a speculation, but not true. For example, the other auxiliary zords so far (Mystic Force, SPD, Wild Force, Samurai, MMPR, Time Force and Dino Thunder) and in future (Ninja Storm and RPM) were all Power Rangers-related, not one is of Sentai before 1992. Another is that with 18 episodes and photos and info out of up to episode 20, there has been no tribute to a non-PR Sentai. So it would be very easy to re-shoot scenes featuring the past costumes. Scenes of the Gokaiger transformed as past teams is brief. Could it be that Bandai had agreed to do more focus on Power Ranger-turned Sentai? Or maybe just a coincidence because since those Sentai are the latest and get (Japanese) kids more pumped since it is the ones they grew up with. Also the recent Sentai has had the most auxiliary mech.

CONS
1. CONS NUMBER ONE
The Gokaiger transform into past teams, but not only one that were adapted into Power Rangers but all 34 past teams, many (15) that were not adapted. And many of the costume designs are sort of ugly or not appealing to modern audiences. But look at Gingaman, those suits were adapted for Lost Galaxy and many fans complained those suits were ugly and looked like Charlie Brown T-shirts, also that the Lightspeed costumes looked like pinwheels/peppermints. If Saban Brands chose to skip over footage of past Sentai, it would be a bit difficult, as the Gokaiger sometimes become past warriors, mixed with those that were adapted into Power Rangers. For example in Episode 3, Yellow becomes Gao White, who PR fans know as White Wild Force Ranger (2002). But the other two--Big One and White Swan, were not ever Power Rangers.

2. CONS NUMBER TWO
Another factor is that Saban is planning to use the Samurai theme in 2012 and Goseiger will most likely be adapted in 2013 and Saban Brands have confirmed that 2013 will be the anniversary year for Power Rangers. Since Gokaiger celebrates 35 anniversary and there will be a lot of nostalgia for a season if Gokaiger is indeed adapted into Power Rangers, it would be strange if it was airing in 2014 after the 20th anniversary and with so much nostalgia. One can think Saban is having Samurai for 2 seasons and Goseiger adaption for 2013 a.k.a. the 20th anniversary in order to skip Gokaiger for 2014 and adapt the 2012 Sentai for 2014. But Disney and Saban, both who have run Power Rangers, have never skipped a season. But now rumors are that Samurai will use Goseiger footage, so it might be a little strange when they do tributes. But funny enough, the Gokaiger get the Goseiger powers in the 199 Heroes movie, and the Headers appear in Episode 16, so maybe they can make it work.

3. CONS NUMBER THREE
Another factor is the 'Legend War,' I have commented before on how it would be hard to explain how it is possible for one team to be present if many of the Rangers shared powers. Now, if the Saban producers choose to not use the 15 teams that were not PR, then they would have to re-shoot the 'war' with only 18 teams and I mentioned this before in this post: http://henshingrid.blogspot.com/2011/03/saban-brands-when-adapting-gokaiger-how.html

4. CON NUMBER FOUR
Ugh, I hate this word (Canon) now. There is a lot of contest between fans if RPM is canon because it takes place in a post-apocalyptic world and the only connection to past seasons it had was the presence of "Jungle Karma Pizza," the work place of Jungle Fury. As for the show itself in having past rangers come in, that is up to the writers. But since Tzachor doesn't consider any Disney seasons as canon, it would be VERY HARD to adapt Gokaiger. They could get another producer other than Tzachor to produce it or force him to do it. Or they can cheat and not bring any Disney Era actors, but how could they not if they all live near where they film (international wise I mean)? With Saban including all seasons in Netflix streaming, fans think this mean they are all canon but not so sure, because it's just video, not included in the new episodes. But what does canon matter? Sentai has played with it a lot and so far have skipped through or not mentioned certain things in Gokaiger.

5. CON NUMBER FIVE
It would take a lot of money to get past actors back and to ship them from the USA, yes they might not get a lot and they might be just in for one episode but there could be disputes, I mean PR actors during Saban era are notorious for money disputes. And it would take a lot of money to shoot the Legacy War again and add new scenes with Titanium Ranger and Spirit Rangers, if they choose to shoot them. And also, will past actors would want to come back? Also, scheduling, maybe they won't be able to get even one member on one team, I'm sure lots of veterans would be glad to come back but you never know, with such a global mixing pot of actors. It's not like Japan where they are all in the same country, lots of these actors are in United States, Canada, New Zealand, Australia and other countries.

NOTE: Don't get me wrong, I have no problem them using the suits from Goranger to Jetman, I would welcome it.
