Power Rangers: Male Non-Rubber Suit Villains

Like I did with Super Sentai, almost all villainesses in Power Rangers are actresses without rubber suits (many are not rubber, but you know what I mean) like the monsters. In Power Rangers, there is quite a few, especially in seasons that the Sentai counterpart didn't have a human male villain.

Ransik (Time Force)
Don Dornero was the main villain of Timeranger, which we know as Gluto, which became a big dumby waste of space. Ransik was added, my personal opinion on why they probably did was to add a big masculine force and also add on to the plot. Later, they tied up Ransik with the Orgs to explain how he took swords out of his bones.

Master Org (Wild Force)
While the 'Master Org' was just a figurehead in Gaoranger, Wild Force's Master Org was an original creation but with the costume of the Emperor in Dairanger. I liked that they tied in Viktor to Cole's story. In the end, he became an Org monster and died.

Lothor (Ninja Storm-Dino Thunder)

The main villain of Hurricanger, Tao Zanto, was not seen in Ninja Storm but his final form did become Lothor's zord. Lothor was played by the same actor that played Sensei, as they were twins. I didn't like his outfit, I don't think it matched with the other villains and his mask looked like a Luchador (wrestler) costume mask.

Mesogog (Dino Thunder)
Mesogog's human form Anton Mercer was not exactly villainous but he was the same actor who voiced Mesogog.

Emperor Grumm (SPD)
Played by the same guy who plays Jii in PRS, he voiced Grumm and showed a human disguise in the Shadow two-parter.

Thrax
Rita and Zedd's son, only appeared in two episodes of PROO. His armor was part of Zeltrax's, had a bit of Zedd's body and bone aspects that could be from his Uncle Rito. You couldn't really see his human face, but he had a rather good looking actor who also does stunts.

Dai Shi/Jarrod (Jungle Fury)
The concept of Dai Shi was exclusive to Power Rangers, he didn't exist in Gekiranger. But of course, he didn't have a costume until the end, the big dragon, but that was from Gekiranger. I personally believe the concept of Dai Shi was to give an excuse for Jarrod to be morally responsible for his evil actions like Rio was. Jarrod is the 1st male human villain to be transferred from Sentai to Power Rangers and to also have a similar costume to his Japanese Counterpart. 'Dai' means great in Japanese and 'Shi' means Lion, so his name could be 'Great Lion,' like I have said before--there is confusing about what Dai Shi and Jarrod did or who was in control, mostly to be blamed on the writers.

Deker
Deker is a Nighlok swordsman that can assume a human form. Considers the Red Ranger to be his greatest challenge for his sword Uramasa. Played by Rick Medina, who played Cole in PRWF. He is the second male human villain to be transferred from Sentai to Power Rangers and to also have a similar costume to his Japanese Counterpart.

Henshin0's feelings over PR streaming on Netflix

When I read the article about Netflix streaming this "tomorrow" (today by now), you couldn't believe my ecstasy. This is one time where being an insomniac is a good thing, because lying on your bed, you start to realize, "Wait, it's midnight.....POWER RANGERS ARE STREAMING ON NETFLIX NOW!" And I got a first look, and it rocked my world. First of all, the graphics of older footage has slightly improved (the way you think MMPR revisioned would have, before you actually saw it), and at the end of the episodes of all of the shows, even the Disney seasons, they use the new Saban logo, like the one they use at the end of "Samurai". Since I didn't sleep at night, I spent the whole night watching "Zeo", and thanks to the digital remastery, I noticed things I didn't notice before even when they aired it on Jetix.

First, in the zord garage, you can see the initials "U.A.O.H." from Zeo's Japanese counter-part, "Ohranger". Also, in the power chamber, where they have capsules containing the MMPR suits, Yellow ranger's suit (are you ready for this) has a skirt. What ironic timing to notice it, when gokaiger is airing in Japan. I also noticed a few less impressive things like the rangers wearing turtle-necks......a lot, and subtext about David Yost, but that's not important. Who knows what other things I will just start to notice in other old season, but whats really cool, is the fact that it's on netfix, means that via desktop, laptop, TV internet, and iPhone, I can literally spend the whole day watching non-stop Power Rangers. Although, there are a few things you should know. First, they're not streaming Mystic Knights, or Masked rider, and second, MMPR-R is considered S-19 on Netflix, not S-18, while "Samurai" is considered 18, but isn't on netflix at all, even though the cast list is on the site.

How the Sixth Rangers related to the other Power Rangers?

Here I compare how the Sixth Rangers got along with the main team and if they were accepted or not. It's much different to how the Sixth Rangers were accepted in Super Sentai.

Tommy and the Power Rangers
This is my opinion and with the first Sixth Rangers, the first season writers didn't want to much arc-related stuff, just and alone episodes so kids could pick up on what was going on, so having too much conflict would be confusing but once they realized the multi-parters made ratings go up, they made more. So yeah Tommy got along with the gang. And like said by Linkara, just because he lost his powers, it didn't mean he had to disappear from school. And where did he go? We know in Season 2 from between he lost his powers and he became the White Ranger, he was at his Uncle's. Green Ranger's powers were limited.

Jason and the Zeo Rangers
Trey and the Zeo Rangers
Since he already knew the gang, he instantly joined and they had no conflicts. Jason had to give his powers back to Trey, who was a mysterious helper.

Phantom Ranger and the Turbo Rangers
He never really gave his real name and the gang called him 'Phantom Ranger.' All they knew was that he came from Eltar. He was fairly friendly with them, even as much to help them when they are Space Rangers. Where in Sentai VRV Master is not considered a Ranger and seemingly not going to get a Ranger Key for Gokaiger, he was marketed as a Sixth Ranger and giving the 'Ranger' title in Power Rangers. His powers were limited because of the Power Ruby.

Zhane and the Space Rangers
They instantly accepted him as he was Andros' old friend. There was some time that they had to get know him. He got friendly with Ashley, which made Andros jealous. And Andros hearing that Zhane had a thing with Karone, his sister, wasn't exactly stellar. But other than that, he instantly joined with no problems. His powers were limited for a while.

Mike and the Galaxy Rangers
Even though confirmed as just an Extra Hero in Super Sentai, Mike was treated as a Sixth Ranger, even given a Morpher, Mike was instantly accepted. Strangely enough, in the two-parter, Damon barely knew him and was shouting out for him. He had to give up his power at the end.

Ryan and the Lightspeed Rangers
The Titanium Ranger was the first non-Sentai Ranger, he was evil for a brief time and then accepted, he then went on his own mission to find out how to stop the demons, probably because he had no footage, so lots of money to make new footage. Anyway, he was fully accepted to the team. With maybe only conflict with his dad, as he had a cobra that would kill him as he morphed and didn't tell his dad. He had limited powers because of the cobra curse.

Eric and the Time Force Rangers
Antagonistic towards Time Force, he wasn't an evil ranger but he didn't want to join the team. He was looking out for himself. Well, if the four Rangers joined the Silver guardians, he would've be okay with being their leader then. Even though Wes liked him, he didn't, not until the end where they became a duo. His powers weren't limited like past Rangers, it was more of a moral and dramatic choices that led to him not being in every single episode since his debut or be part of the team.
Antagonistically, didn't want to join: 1

Merrick and the Wild Force Rangers
He was part of the original team and was cursed to be Zenaku. When the current Rangers saved him, he became Lunar Wolf Rangers but felt bad about all he did so he didn't want to join the team. He later ended up wandering the Earth with Zenaku of all people. His powers weren't limited like past Rangers, it was more of a moral and dramatic choices that led to him not being in every single episode since his debut or be part of the team.

Thunder Rangers and Wind Rangers
Instead of having the Goraijer's backstory, they were duped into being 'evil,' and were told the Sensei killed their parents but it was Lothor. Once this was cleared up, they instantly joined the team and almost had zero conflict, save for one episode with Shane.

Cam and the Ninja Storm Rangers
Unlike Shurikenger who was a mysterious helper, Cam was already part of the team. His powers weren't limited like Rangers before Time Force. They did conflict with Cyber Cam.

Trent and the Dino Rangers
Even though there was just four Dino Rangers and Triassic is not counted as a sixth ranger but an upgrade, AbareKiller is consider a Sixth Ranger by Gokaiger. Trent was under evil control and was evil against the Rangers, then cured and instantly joined the team, but that didn't mean there still wasn't conflicts. He kept secrets from them. And then there was the evil clone, made to excuse the footage of AbareKiller still being antagonistic against them.

Sam and SPD
When Sam came in as Omega Ranger, he came with an attitude that future stuff was better. Fans found him annoying.

Daggeron and Mystic Rangers
Xanderis a bit jealous and upset at Daggeron but later turns around. Nick butts heads with Daggeron occasionally (even to the point that Snow Prince downgraded Daggeron and had him follow Nick.

Tyzonn and the OO Rangers
Mac instantly likes Tyzonn. Tyzonn doesn't want to join the team because of guilt of loosing friends in a team before. But once he gets the powers, he does join the team and with zero conflict, the only conflict he had with Will was that he followed him around, copying him.

RJ and the Jungle Fury Rangers
They all knew RJ before as he was the teacher but he did butt heads with Casey when he became a Ranger because Casey felt like he was stepping into the leader role.

Dominick and the Jungle Fury Rangers
He wanted to be accepted but wasn't for his laziness and arrogance, it took Casey to kind of accept him.

Spirit Rangers and Jungle Fury Rangers
Evil, but eventually joined, sort of: 5

Ziggy and Dillon and RPM Rangers
Unlike Go-Onger, there was mass amounts of conflict with Ziggy and Dillon and the others. Dillon conflicted with everyone. Nobody wanted Ziggy. But we all know how that turned out.

Twins and RPM Rangers
Instantly joined, the main 5 didn't get them but they were part of the team.

Antonio and Samurai Rangers
He wanted to join but wasn't accept by the Samurai Rangers. He was quickly accepted by three of them but not much by Kevin and Jii. Jayden and Jii later accepted him but it took an episode for Kevin to accept him.

Jayden and Mia pretend to get married to stop a plot by Dayu. Emily also dressed as a bride.

Gokai Yellow as Gao Yellow's Skirt in Gokaiger

When I first saw the black trim on the skirt they gave Gokai Yellow when she becomes Gao Yellow, I think it was a bit strange. Even though I liked the idea of a yellow skirt with black stripe, I didn't think it fit so much with the design of Gaoranger. Many fans are saying they prefer a gold trim. Some of these fans are hard on themselves, saying they are nitpicking, but this isn't like preferring PR over Sentai or arguing why the Red Rangers had their powers in "Forever Red," it is more of a design aesthetic, critiquing artistic choices. I personally think the black trim works better on Yellow Turbo (Turboranger).

TheNewGuy at Rangerboard brings up the Power Rangers Wild Force game for Nintendo GameBoy Advanced in 2002. He says maybe since fans got used to this design with her in the skirt, maybe fans were leaning more for a skirt with no hem or a skirt with gold. The skirt above I believe is without trim. I was not aware of this skirt as I never had the GBA game. I thought the skirts ever added to the un-skirted Yellow Rangers was the Lightspeed Rescue one for happy meals and recently MMPR Yellow in 2010 toy set.

Almost Rangers

The following actors/actresses were almost Power Rangers, but ultimately chose not to or were not chosen.

Audri Dubois as Trini
She was almost Trini, she was in the pilot but ultimately chose not to do it, for multiple factors, one being not wanting to commit to the contract that had a heavy work schedule, not getting paid alot and having her likeness used in merchandise.

Dan Southworth
Best known as Eric/Quantum Ranger, he auditioned to be the original Black Ranger.

Brad Hawkins as the White Ranger.
He was originally hired to be the White Ranger, a new character. But because of Jason David Frank's popularity (he was to be on the show that eventually became VR Troopers), they decided to keep him and make him the White Ranger and move Brad to VR Troopers. Patricia J. Lee as Pink Galaxy Ranger
It was planned that Patricia (Cassie) would replace Varlie Vernon (Kendrix). They even shot the last scene for The Power of Pink indicating this, but Patricia had decided not to accept when she found out she wasn't going to be paid as a full-time cast member but a regular guest star (paid less), so she opted not to do it. That is why the last scene has the PRiS rangers in suit.

Another actress portrayed Alyssa before Jessica Rey (it was Sandra McCoy "Kendall") According to reports, Koichi Sakamoto demanded a character that his wife could double for, thus she was given the role of Kendall instead.

Power Rangers Emblems/Symbols/Insignias

MMPR (season 1), MMPR (season 3), Zeo
The biggest symbol of Power Rangers is the lighting bolt. The Ninja Coin symbol was in the spirit of the Dinozord one, incorporating the animals. The Zeo one was on their belts, with their symbols.


Turbo, inSpace
Turbo really didn't have a common symbol, except the Carranger one that was on the arsenal but not really emphasized. The Space Rangers really didn't have a common symbol except for the buckle sign that was on their arsenal but very little emphasized.


Lightspeed, Time Force
Lost Galaxy really didn't have a common symbol. Lightspeed had the big symbol all over their headquarters and on their belts, boot cuffs and glove cuffs. Time Force court had the belt symbol.

Wild Force
Was on their belt buckles.


Ninja Storm, Dino Thunder, SPD
Ninja Storm had a big version of it in the headquarters and all over their arsenal and ninja uniforms. DT had it on their chests, and all over their headquarters. SPD had it on their helmets and arms, and all over everywhere (arsenal and HQ).

Mystic Force, Overdrive, Jungle Fury
Mystic Force have them on their belts and had a big one in their headquarters. The OO had the symbol on their chest and had a big symbol in their headquarters. The Jungle Fury Rangers had the symbol on their chests.

RPM, Samurai
The RPM Rangers had it on their helmets and belts. Gold and Silver had their variation on their chests. Dr. K had it around her lab. Samurai Rangers have it on their chest and their signal alert is in the same shape at their headquarters.
